Upcoming conferences

The next ECBA Autumn Conference “The role of the defence and the transformation of the European judicial area” will take place in St. Julian, on the 14 and 15 October 2022, at the Malta Marriott Hotel&Spa . The conference registrations will start at the beginning of September on the ECBA e-store. There is a special deal offer with the hotel too for conference participants (link will be published when opening the registrations).

The Conference will open with the annual ECBA Scott Crosby Human Rights Award. The Programme includes hot topics such as:

- the Maltese Criminal Jurisdiction and the role of defence

- the new binding instrument devised by the Council of Europe on the protection of lawyers

- the protection of EU financial Interests and the role of EPPO

- the recent ECBA Statement on mutual recognition of extradition decisions

- judicial cooperation and procedural safeguards

- the state of play of the EU-UK judicial cooperation                                        

In addition to the panels, we have a presentation of the ECBA various activities and working groups

The welcome reception at the Panoramic Terrace on the 13th floor of the Malta Marriott hotel will offer the delegates the opportunity to enjoy breath-taking views of St. Julian, together with delicious finger food and drinks.

The optional dinner will be held at the charming San Giuliano Italian restaurant, overlooking the  Spinola bay, and the menu includes meat, fish and vegetarian choices.

For those who will have a longer stay and want to know Malta’s UNESCO heritage La Valletta capital, there is an optional walking tour of the city on Sunday morning (transfer included).

The next annual EFCL annual conference will take place in June 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany. Details will be published closer to the date.
