We are honoured to have Judge Francesco Viganó, Vice President of the Italian Constitutional Court and Italian Judge Raffaele Sabato from the European Court of Human Rights as keynote speakers, opening the conference.
The panels of the Conference are dedicated to challenges and threats to legal privilege; confiscation and asset seizures without conviction, and media and PR in criminal cases.
We benefit as usual of excellent guest speakers such as former ECtHR Portuguese Judge Prof. Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, Euro Just team leader Susana Fonte, Italian investigative journalist Stefania Maurizi, Dr. Catarina Scialla from Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” University and Roberto Chenal, lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights.
The ECBA wants to extend special thanks to the Torre Annunziata Bar Association and to Città di Sorrento, who supported us with all organisational details, making sure we all feel the amazing local hospitality.
Delegates will be able to enjoy a great reception at the panoramic Terraza Vittoria Friday evening, with amazing sea views, and the Conference will be held at the Council Room of the Sorrento City Hall. The optional dinner Saturday will be at the enchanting Belvedere restaurant, in the historical hotel Imperial Tramontano, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, the place where the mermaids tried to charm Ulysses and his sailors.
For those who wish to know more about Sorrento history, architecture and traditions, there is an optional walking tour Sunday morning. The tour goes through the old centre and down to the fishing village, to discover Sorrento's picturesque corners, history, art, traditions and panoramic views. Follow in the footsteps of Henrik Ibsen, Lord Byron, John Keats or Goethe, who were also tourists here once.
